Terms of Use
The terms you accept by using Draftie, including the important one: Draftie produces concept plans, not construction documents.
These terms apply to your use of Draftie, an online floor plan editor for Australian homes, at draftie.co.
Last updated: 5 August 2026
The one that matters most
Draftie produces concept plans, not construction documents.
A drawing you make in Draftie is a design you can think with, price roughly, and hand to a professional. It is not a construction drawing, not a certified plan, and not a document to submit to a council or a certifier. Draftie does not produce structural, engineering, energy, drainage or bushfire documentation, and nothing it shows you is architectural, engineering, surveying, building or legal advice.
Before anything gets built, your plan needs to go to a qualified draftsperson, building designer, architect or engineer. That is what the DXF export is for.
The design checks Draftie runs: including any reference to the National Construction Code or a state development code: are a guide to help you spot obvious problems early. They are not a compliance assessment and they are not a substitute for a building certifier. Draftie may be wrong about them, and codes change. Do not rely on them for approval.
Beta software
Draftie is free while in beta. That has consequences you should accept knowingly:
- Features may change, move or be removed.
- There is no uptime guarantee and no support commitment.
- Bugs may cause a plan to be lost or damaged.
Keep your own copies of anything you care about. Every plan exports as an editable .floor.json project file, plus PDF, DXF, PNG and SVG. Use it.
If Draftie stops being free, existing accounts will be given notice before any charge applies. No payment details are collected today.
Your account
You need an account to save plans. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it. One person per account.
You must be at least 16 to use Draftie.
Your plans are yours
You keep all rights in the plans, drawings and content you create in Draftie. Draftie does not claim ownership of them and does not publish them or show them to other users.
You grant Draftie a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and create derived images of your plans for two purposes:
- Operating the service for you: storing plans, rendering them, and
showing them back to you on your devices.
- Reading plans and improving how Draftie reads them: sending plan images
or regions of them to contracted AI providers, and using your plans, the information extracted from them, the rankings you give, the readings you accept and the corrections you make to develop, train, test, evaluate and improve Draftie's own models.
This licence lasts while your content is on the service and ends when you delete it, except that models already trained cannot be un-trained: see the privacy policy under "Your choices and rights".
AI processing is part of the service, not an optional feature. There is no setting that turns it off. If you do not want a plan processed this way, do not upload it.
You must have the right to upload it
You are responsible for having the right to upload whatever you upload, and for having the authority to have it stored in cloud infrastructure, disclosed to contracted AI providers overseas, and used to improve Draftie's models as described above.
If you upload someone else's plan: a builder's drawing, an architect's plan, a real-estate floor plan, a client's drawing: you must be entitled to do all of that with it. If you are acting for a client or an employer, you must have their authority. Do not upload plans you are not entitled to share.
Automated output is a suggestion
Draftie reads plans using computer vision and AI. What it produces is a suggestion and may be wrong: walls in the wrong place, misread room labels, wrong dimensions, missed doors and windows. Automated output is not treated as confirmed until a person has reviewed it.
Do not rely on Draftie's output for construction, quoting, contractual, regulatory or certification purposes without checking it against the source drawing yourself.
Product and material information
Draftie's finishes are drawn from real product ranges from Australian manufacturers. Product names, SKUs, ranges and trade marks belong to their respective owners, and their appearance in Draftie is for identification and reference only. It does not imply any partnership with, endorsement by, or affiliation with those manufacturers.
Specifications, sizes, availability, ratings and colours are collected from public sources and may be out of date or wrong. Screen colour is not a colour match. Confirm every product, dimension and rating with the supplier before you order anything.
Acceptable use
Don't: break the law with it; try to access other people's accounts or data; attack, probe, overload or reverse-engineer the service; scrape it in bulk; strip out the notices; or resell access to it.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things.
Availability and changes
Draftie may be changed, interrupted or discontinued at any time, with or without notice. We will try to give reasonable notice of anything that would cause you to lose access to your plans, but during beta we cannot promise it.
You can stop using Draftie whenever you like. Ask us to delete your account and we will (see the Privacy Policy).
Warranties and liability
Draftie is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind beyond those that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where a statutory guarantee applies and we are permitted to limit our liability for breaching it, our liability is limited to supplying the service again.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent the law allows, Draftie is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or any cost arising from construction, renovation, purchase or approval decisions made on the basis of a drawing produced in Draftie. Because Draftie is supplied free of charge, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us, which is nothing.
Nothing here is intended to mislead you about your statutory rights.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE/TERRITORY], Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
Changes to these terms
These terms are versioned. The current version is shown at the top of the page.
For minor changes, the "last updated" date changes and continued use means you accept them. For changes that materially affect how your content is handled, as version 2 does, by adding cloud storage, AI processing and model improvement you will be asked to read and accept the new version before you can upload or process another plan. We record which version you accepted and when.
If you do not accept the current version you can still sign in, read, edit, export and delete the plans you already have. You will not be able to upload new plans or run processing on existing ones.
